On Saturday, March 16th, 2024, the South Carolina Workers Party held its annual convention. With 50 members in attendance, our county delegates voted overwhelmingly to run five candidates in the November General Election.

Three of those candidates have filed to run for their district seats in the General Assembly. Since our candidates will not know who will win in the Democratic or Republican parties, all three have filed for both the Senate and House seats that represent them. After the June 5th partisan primary elections, they will decide which seat to pursue in November.

These candidates have filed with the State Election Commission:

Kiral Mace, Senate District 16 & House District 026. Kiral is a labor activist, social justice advocate, and York County native.

Harold Geddings, Senate District 26 & House District 093. Harold is a lifelong South Carolina resident and activist for labor, women’s rights, and environmental issues.

Gary Votour, Senate District 22 & House District 076. Gary is a health care advocate and social justice activist, and ran for Governor in 2022.

In addition to these candidates, our delegates voted to extend our ballot line to Presidential Candidate Claudia De La Cruz and Vice-Presidential Candidate Karina Garcia. They are running nationwide as candidates of the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL).

The SC Workers Party believes all South Carolinians have a right to equal access to health care, to earn a living wage, to form Unions to bargain collectively, and to be free of discrimination based on sex, race, or sexual identity. It’s time we have leadership in SC that believes in these rights with all their heart.
